Kaede became traumatized from the incident, losing her will to live. Rin overheard the doctor saying that she needed a reason to keep living. Rin then went to Kaede and told her that on the night of the accident, he was lonely and phoned his parents, asking them to come back. Since his parents and Kaede's mother rode in the same car, he essentially told Kaede that it was his fault that her mother died. This caused Kaede to harbor a deep hatred for Rin. Upon emerging from her stupor, she began to choke him. Since Kaede's father decided to take Rin into their home, Rin constantly had to endure Kaede's hatred of him, including her vengeful acts such as destroying Rin's room and attempting to hurt him. Later, some time during their junior high years, Kaede found a postcard while rummaging through Rin's possessions after destroying Rin's model ship. The postcard sparked her memory of the night of the accident, and she remembered that the reason her mother (and Rin's parents) came back was because she had a fever, and she had asked her father to call her mother home. This meant that her mother's death was to be blamed on Kaede herself, rather than Rin. Rin rushed in just as she finished reading the postcard, but he was too late to prevent Kaede from remembering everything and feeling deep guilt for her actions. In order to atone for her actions in the past, Kaede decided to make herself Rin's personal servant by cooking his meals and doing all the work around the house. Rin does not want this, but he is afraid of causing Kaede a relapse by not allowing her to punish herself in this way. Asa Asa is a senior attending Verbana Academy and is in her last year of high school. This makes her at least 1 year older than Rin and Kaede and is good friends with both of them, having met when they met her while she was in Junior High. Taking Kaede under her wing, she trained Kaede to be an excellent cook like herself and as time passed by she would teach her some new recipes to try out for Rin. At the moment she currently lives with her mother. From time to time she'll flirt with Rin, tease him, and give him a nice big slap on the back. However, it was later revealed that there were numerous guys who had a secret crush on her. Nevertheless, nothing much came out of it as she rejected them and the show didn't delve any deeper into the issue. Oddly enough for a girl as feminine as she is, Asa uses the polite-masculine pronoun of "boku" when referring to herself rather than the traditionally feminine "atashi." She was nicknamed Shocking Shigure much to her dismay, because while her cooking skills are amazing, it is in stark contrast to her boyish image. In spite of her mild tomboy tendencies, Asa is warm hearted and caring girl who show is capable of motherly kindness.

diva saya's younger twin sister and the main series diva is the greatest sworn enemy of the redDiva (ディーヴァ, Dīva?), Saya's younger twin sister and the main series antagonist, Diva is the greatest sworn enemy of the Red Shield. In 1833, Joel Goldschmidt discovered the mummy of an unknown creature that had two cocoons that react to human blood. Diva was born in 1833 from one of these two cocoons. As an experiment, Joel separated the twin girls, raising Saya as if she were his own daughter while Diva, who was given no name, was locked in a tower and given only the basic necessities to live by Joel's assistant Amshel. In 1863, Saya discovers the girl locked in the tower and names her Diva. Twenty years later, Saya releases Diva from her tower so that she can sing at Joel's birthday party, however Diva murders Joel along with the rest of the people attending the party before fleeing the area. By 2004, when Blood+ begins, Diva has five living chevaliers, who head up the Cinq Flčches Group. Due to her upbringing, Diva has a ruthless nature wrapped in an often child-like demeanor. She giggles after killing people, shows little reaction to the death of her own chevaliers, and tends to destroy things when bored. Diva seems to enjoy tormenting Saya and frequently says she wants to kill her. After meeting Riku, Saya's adopted brother, she drinks most of his blood and Saya is forced to turn him into a chevalier to save his life. After this incident, Diva becomes increasingly interested in Riku, eventually infiltrating the Red Shield headquarters with Karl to find him. She rapes Riku, and kills him by giving him her blood which crystallizes him. A year after this attack, when the Red Shield is able to regroup, Diva has changed her physical appearance to resemble Riku and retains that appearance until her final battle with Saya. Diva becomes an opera singer in New York, sponsored by the Group. Cinq Flčches has spread the Delta 67 agent, which can turn people into chiropterans, across various populations of the world, including the United States. When heard live, Diva's voice greatly increases the effectiveness of the agent. As a result of her attack on Riku, Diva becomes pregnant. She does not give birth for over a year, when Amshel cuts the cocoons out of her body. Diva seems to treasure her babies and caring for the cocoons. At the Metropolitan Opera House, Diva is set to perform a live broadcast which would cause a large portion of the world's population to turn into chiropterans. The Red Shield and Saya are able to stop the broadcast, and the sisters have their final battle while Diva's chevalier Nathan watches nearby with the babies. The fight ends as Diva and Saya pierce one another with their swords, which each had coated with their own blood. Saya is unharmed by the attack due to Diva's blood having lost its power when she became pregnant. Diva begins to crystallize from the effects of Saya's blood. Her babies emerge from their cocoons and Diva reaches for them, imagining herself with her daughters and smiling at the vision before dying
